Boot from the  Redhat OS disk1 cdrom and select rescue mode.

if you are able to login as root properly then:-
try running
e2fsck
and if that doesnt work then try
e2fsck -f {to force a check)

If login doesnt work properly then boot in linux rescue mode and try a
check
there
