I did this recently. You have one IP address but the load is spread over several NICS.
We have a cisco 5500 series network switch and an RH7.2 server with 4 nics. On the linux server there is a file called /usr/share/doc/iputils-20001110/README.ifenslave which describes what to do. On the cisco switch you type "set port channel <card number>/<first-port>-<last-port> on" (Cisco call this "fast etherchannel", if that helps). It's really very simple. -----Original Message----- From: Matthew Scarrow [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 26 August 2002 20:03 To: RedHat List Subject: Out bound traffic Load Balancing Across 3 nic's. Is it possible and what software could I use to Load Balance network traffic across 3 nic's. Also to build up some form of redundancy I would like to be able to redirect traffic if one of the cards fail or the line is down for some reason. Anyone have some good pointers for me. Thanks.
