Hey there,
Actually, Red Hat (and other distros) come with a "utility" FIPS that will
allow you to "shrink" a partition and it is FREE...
JUST BE SURE to check out the "instructions" before attempting or you might
DESTROY the partition(s) !!!
here's a place to start...

In the configuration file (/boot/grub/grub.conf), you'll see the same
lines as those in the boot menu. Add your option there for a more
permanent fix.

Actually, you can't. This will only work if the file already exists,
because of the way shell expansion works. You'll get a "no such file or
directory" error if you try this on a file that doesn't exist.

Haven't heard of ANYTHING that would be free. :/

But I *can* say that Partition Magic will do the job VERY well. Never had
any
problems with it - regardless of OS.

What, in the strace output, convinced them of that?

Have you installed alternate GL drivers, such as NVidia's? What's the
output of:
ldd /path/to/VariCAD
rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1
rpm -Vf /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1

Hi all,
I have a machine with Windows 2000 pro as the OS. I want to partition the
hard
drive so that I can install Redhat 7.3 in it. So I want to basically resize
the window partiton and create a free space in the hard drive, and the disk
druids during Redhat Installation should do the rest.

Is there any free software that can do that? I know about Partition Magic
from
PowerQuest, but it's not free I think. I, of course, don't want to loose or
corrupt any existing data. So If there a software that can do this reliably,
it would be great.

Thanks in advance for any information

I have successfully used Acronis OS Selector, it is a boot manager and
excellent Partion Manager. I am saying it is free,asI got it from a
UKmagazine. PCPlus. You could try thier web site www.pcplus.co.uk. and see
if
it in the download archive..

Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi Group,
This is my first post to this group. Please let me know if this is
the wrong list to post this question to.
I'm attempting to make a Rescue image to boot from the network (nfs
or tftp). I can start with the stock Red Hat 7.2 rescue image and add
packages via rpm. But I'm unsure if I can retrive the new root image
from the network. The Install and Custom guides on the RH site seem to
say that it is possible. But I can't find any examples or requirements
for it to work. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I'm building this for backup recovery purposes. We have a number of
servers that I would like to be able to do a "bare-metal" recovery via
amanda with. I have all the required services running (or can set them
up easily) dhcpd, nfs, dns, tftp, etc....
If you need more info please let me know.
thanks,

I have a web server running redhat 7.3.

Every time we try to send emails from a form we have, the receiver never
gets it. I found out that the problems is due that the sender email
address is [EMAIL PROTECTED], where the receiver's mail
server tries to do a reverse lookup for this email address it never gets
it for obvious reasons. The questions is how can I change it to a valid
email address, even if I put the sender as a valid address the
[EMAIL PROTECTED] keeps showing up.

I also have a computer with a CD-ROM (hdb) and a CD-R/RW (hdd), just
like yours. I did a clean 7.3 install on it (a hard drive with 7.2 on

I have used fips (included in the CD's under dosutils) with Win98. I
don't know if it will work with Win2000.
