Hmm they look heavily tweaked.  Since PHP is a major core of the applications 
running here I would rather stick with the Red Hat RPMs as they are known to 
be compatible.

No both of those are installed.

Looks like what I was missing was the libgds library.  I had to install 
Firebird as libgds is an Interbase library and now the RPMs are building.
I only hope the Firebird libraries can talk to our Interbase 5.5 database :)
