ummm, I tried mii-tool and I get:
SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth0' failed. Operation not supported.
SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth1' failed. Operation not supported.
SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth2' failed. Operation not supported.
all three are 3C905-TX/TX-M's.  drats!
But on another system:
eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link-ok
eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link-ok
eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link-ok
all three are 3C905-TX.  nice.
Now I'm more aware on ethernet cards.
