Figure out a way to install a more recent stable version of Evo or switch
to a more mature or more modest mailer. The more recent Evo versions have
improved filtering.

Pine and mutt are rock-solid and work well in combination with fetchmail
and procmail. Mutt, procmail, and fetchmail together constitute my all time
favorite mail solution. They have decent defaults and are highly
customizable via config files and scripts. I have become so used to the
things that they do for me that I can no longer accept the restrictions
that are imposed by the typical GUI mailers.

Mozilla seems to be pretty good if you have to have a GUI mailer. I still
recommend using fetchmail and procmail to download and filter your mail.
These are best of breed applications. No mailer with built-in filters can
match the flexibility of procmail. Fetchmail can be run as a daemon or a
cron job to download mail unattended. When you login, you don't have to
wait for your mail to download.

I do use Evo for an account that only receives a dozen or two messages a
day, but for my busy accounts, I use a high-powered character-based
solution. The GUI mailers are just too slow and limited for my needs.
