If you're using LILO, throw a vga=ask line in lilo.conf and re-run lilo.  If
you're using GRUB, search the archives and you'll find detailed instructions
that I posted within the last year.  (Off the top of my head, you need to
update /etc/sysconfig/i18n.conf or some such file).

You can use vga=ask within GRUB also, but it won't 'stick'.  It will let you
determine what resolutions are available to your card, though.
