It might help if you provided more detail about the problem you are having.

Are you having trouble sending mail?  That's not pop - that's smtp.

Are you having trouble when the pop client tries to collect the mail?
That's pop.  What errors are you seeing?

I'm assuming that when you say pop3 is "listening on port 110", you mean
that when you do the following:

netstat -tupan | grep 110

...you see xinetd listening.

What happens when you telnet from the client (not the server) to the server
on port 110?
