Linux in a Nutshell and Running Linux are two real good books too...but then again, I'm partial to O'Reilly books.

hello,
i know there are a lot of expert unix/linux programmers on these mailing lists. i'd like to ask yall's opinion on the following books:

Richard W. Stevens, "Advanced Programming in the UNIX environment"
An EXCELLENT book, among the very best. it is now, however, nearing
ten years old and is a little out of date. Neverthless it is extremely
useful. Mr. Stevens' writing style is clear, understandable, and highly
readable. His examples all work. You can get Linux-ized versions of the
code from the book from his web site (even though he is now deceased,
a doggone shame, his web site still runs).

Andrew Tannenbaum, "Modern Operating Systems"
Kurt Wall, "Linux Programming Unleashed (2nd Edition)"

I have no experience with these other books, sorry.
