To install packages not included with RedHat there are two options:

Download the rpm to your desktop and doubleclick it.  No package manager
needed for the front end and no command line.  Just doubleclick the
thing.

Try apt and synaptic to update non-RH8 systems with rpms for multimedia
and such to lazy to link use google for it.  

No reason to make things more difficult than they are no need to send
newbies to the command line to run rpm -Uvh as root.  

Nope none at all.
