Hi, can someone please help with how to get the alsa drivers working in Red Hat 8.0. I have downloaded and installed the packages from apt-get, and no errors appeared. But when I try to use, say xmmx, I get a message saying 'it appears no alsa drivers are loaded', or some thing like that. Also, on shut down, the shutdown script has a line in it 'starting alsactl', when it is actually shutting down.
How do I check what drivers are loading for audio? In my /dev directory, there is no directory for audio or anything. I would have thought there would have to be one in there for my sound card.
