No, I don't need it to run fetchmail but I want to use its GUI to configure fetchmail. 
If I fail to get it going then I might have to use the command line approach to 
configure fetchmail.

Do you need fetchmailconf to RUN fetchmail?

I don't even have fetchmailconf on my system and I've been running fetchmail
for years.
