Hi,

I have been struggling with my linux for ages now. Finally i seek
help again!!!.

I have a ALPHA AXP pci33 for which i am trying to use linux 5.0.
I am using WINDOWS NT 4.0 and it works well so far. I have my
modem (MOTOROLA Voice Surfer 56K Internal) configured to use
 com3 and irq 5.

When i give the following command:
setserial /dev/modem or setserial /dev/cua2 i see that my UART is
unknown.

How can i get Linux to see the UART?

Next i set the UART to 16550A which is what the UART was for /dev/cua0 and
/dev/cua1.

Now if i try to dial using minicom i do not see any response.

Actually i could use the modem before and somehow linux recognised
the UART for /dev/cua2 also but i have reinstalled linux 5.0 and i am
 facing the problem.

Please SUGGEST a workaround/solution . I will post my PPP related
question later.

 Thanks a lot

 Imran
