I have managed to get things working :) +/- 7.40 kbs
the solution was to remove the initialization string
from the chat script. it appears that the 'modem'
accepts only one 'AT' string from the chat script.
this is my working chat script;
'ABORT' 'BUSY'
'ABORT' 'ERROR'
'ABORT' 'NO CARRIER'
'ABORT' 'NO DIALTONE'
'ABORT' 'Invalid Login'
'ABORT' 'Login incorrect'
'' 'ATB4D3600800' 'CONNECT'

:modem. I have set ppp 'debug on' and included the relevant message

:string I have to expect.. the string was 'CONNECT', the same string my
:chat script is expecting. to rule out the possibility of a defective

:script.. still it will not work on linux. but, I may have located the
:problem. I have noticed that when I try to establish a ppp link (as root)
:the is128ae+ will not dial out, 'chat' will never receives the expected
:'CONNECT' string and aborts with an error message.
:still I don't know how to solve this problem.
:your help will be appreciated !.
