Nope, it isn't any of those; it is specific to useNoSSLForPackages. I'm guessing that yesterday Red Hat made some change to how RHN handles RHEL 5 updates, and now it suffers from the same problem as RHEL 6 and useNoSSLForPackages. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=652424 If I disable location-aware updates, useNoSSLForPackages works again on RHEL 5.
