I heard Francona say because Lester made a fist pump after getting the
strike out at the end of the seventh, it was obvious that he had checked
out of the game. Then I guess Farrell asked Lester if he was done and
Lester said Yes. Tito said he intended to pitch Lester another inning
or at least a couple more batters, but he didn't want to put the guy in
the game if he had mentally checked out. Lester confirmed all this in
his post game press conference but also said that if he had known that
Francona wanted another inning out of him he could have pitched another
inning. Sounds like the whole thing was a misunderstanding. If we
lost, I would have been outraged about this, but in the end, we won in
exciting fashion, we didn't push our luck with Lester and didn't have to
use Papelbon. It all worked out just fine.
On to Catwalk Stadium.

I agree with Steve. Unless I hear a reason why Francona came
close to wearing goat horns last night.
Be funny if he were crucified for pulling his starting pitcher
as opposed to NOT pulling his starting pitcher.
I'm not sure how I feel about this upcoming series. I mean, the
Rays are real and deserve to be here. But...they're the Rays. I
mean.....THE RAYS. This just doesn't feel right. The ALCS is opening up
in that covention center.
Ah well....should be a good series.
For the record I'm rooting for Philly. Keeping it East Coast.
