BATC BREAKFAST SPEAKER SERIES

IT - The Boston Red Sox Real 10th Player!

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

>From Beckett to Papelbon, Pedroia to Youk, Red Sox Nation knows its
players. Every Spring they take the field, well-rested and ready to
bring home another championship. But, how many of us think of the
player on the team that never suits up, never has an off-season? He's
always there behind the scenes and out in front, gathering data, picking
up every detail of each game, keeping everyone informed, safe and giving
them what they want. Now batting, number 10 - Information Technology.

In most businesses, IT can represent a significant competitive
advantage. When talking about our Boston Red Sox, competition and
advantage take on an entirely new dimension. So does IT. Not only is
IT needed to sort through the huge amount of information needed to win
each game, the Red Sox are also big business - retail, marketing, mass
media, operations and finance.

What is the role of IT when it comes to making the Red Sox a winning
team and winning business? How is IT used by coaches and owners to bring
about true franchise success? How is IT used in game preparation? What
technology is used during the game to give our guys the upper hand?

Come learn the answers to these and other questions at our next BATC
breakfast. We are privileged to have Mr. Steve Conley

Conley%20Red%20Soxx.pdf> , Director of IT for the Boston Red Sox give us
a behind the scenes view of the technology for our beloved Boston Red
Sox. In his role, Mr. Conley is responsible for all information
technology for team operations.
