Emotion?

Competitive fervor, sure. They outposted the Yanks by a lot, but he was the
best Japanese pitcher, maybe ever. The contract they signed him too was
reasonable.(Barry Zito was the other SP option, and he's making $18m vs.
Daisuke's $10m.)

He just never could do what he did *there *over *here.*

The Sox gambled and lost (except for an amazing 2008.) But I don't think
they were silly about it.
