Lots of chatter about the Sox activities as we approach the trade deadline.
Carlos Beltran, Jose Reyes, Hunter Pence, Ubaldo Jimenez. Josh Reddick, Ryan
Kalish, any minor league pitchers except Anthony Renaudo. These are all
mentioned as targets of/trading chips for the Sox.

Personally, I'm up in the air about what, if anything, to do. I think it's
official that Jed Lowrie can't be counted on to be more than a utility player.
Scutaro certainly isn't a long-term answer at SS, but I'm not really all that
sure whether Iglesias will be able to hit enough. So do the Sox wait until
after this season and go after Jose Reyes,
or try and trade for him now? Latest word is that the Mets won't trade him, but
if they are still 7 or so games out of the wildcard later this month, that
could change.

RF is an issue too, although I think between Drew, Reddick and McDonald, we can
get through the season there.

Starting pitching - if Lester can get back, which it appears he can, beginning
Monday, then we should be okay, not even counting Buchholtz. As long as
Beckett, Lester and Lackey (big key) are okay, I think they can piece together
the 4th and 5th spots with Miller, Wake, Aceves and Weiland (who seems to have
good stuff, just walks too many batters right now). I'd really like them to be
patient with Miller, who has been a decent surprise thus far.

So I guess I am not for trading a bunch of what seem to be decent prospects in
a big deal. The only one that kind of intrigues me is Pence, who has hit 25
homers each of the last 3 years and is a career .291 hitter.
