Glad to see Tito keeping his sense of humor and perspective here. I think.
Terry Collins of the Mets ripped his team last week after a game, saying they basically lay down and rolled over. They are playing for nothing. And they have played a lot better since he did that. Of course, they have a much younger team than the Sox. But I'm just sayin'. I am a Tito supporter, and not just because he has won 2 WS. I think he is a very good manager, especially in the AL which doesn't rely so much on in-game 'strategery' (not his strong point). But I wonder some times if maybe a little Gatorade-jug bashing might not be a bad thing. Of course, in the vein of his comment, if he were to do that, Gatorade might splash in JD Drew's face and he'd be on the DL again. Now I'm going to have to settle for destroying you with thousands of tiny cuts from my rapier-like wit. Honestly though, this team is something. A year ago, Ray lobbied for blowing the thing up. I thought that as rash after one seasons, and given we will win 90 it still may be too drastic. But we can't spend another off-season counting on Lackey to save himself and count on Beckett having another strong year. In Beckett's defense (and this is weak) his wife is due to deliver a baby any day now. But that doesn't excuse the meltdown. It did afford Terry Francona to make a kind of funny on the radio. "The way things are going for us, when her water breaks one of our guys is going to slip on it and injure themselves." Gross, but made me chuckle. He also told Ordway. "You and I have different agendas. Your agenda is to have the phone lines light up. Mine is to win ball games. I'd have to say, right now, you're doing better than I am."
