How can you not understand the high hopes for the guy? For a while last year the guy looked nearly unhittable. On August 1 he had an ERA of 1.76 and a WHIP of 0.911? Until he collapsed in September, I think everyone fully expected him to take over the closer role.
Interesting that the success of the Red Sox closely tracked the success of Bard last year. Also interesting that his downward spiral started shortly after I traded for him in Fantasy...sigh.
