Red Sox fans have become spoiled on top of being innately negative. The Red Sox led all of baseball in runs scored last year with 875. Only the Yankees (867) and Rangers (855) were also over 800. Ellsbury, Pedroia, Gonzalez, Youkilis, Ortiz, Salty and -- in 2 or 3 weeks -- Crawford are back from that team, seven of the nine starters. Mike Aviles replaces Scutaro, which is a wash offensively. Ryan Sweeney and Cody Ross will platoon to replace JD Drew's .617 OPS in RF. Shouldn't be hard. Why is it exactly that this team won't be able to score runs -- besides the fact that they haven't hit well in the first six games?
Pedroia, Ellsbury, Gonzalez, Ortiz are all either first or second at their positions (offensively) in the AL. Youk could be too, if he hits like he did way back in 2010. Crawford too, actually, if he just hit like he did in 2010. So the fact that Salty, Aviles and Sweeney/Ross might post middle-of-the-pack OPS at their positions -- is going to devastate the Red Sox offense? Please, tell me what team has a star at every position? What team doesn't have "holes"? Whose offense would you trade the Red Sox offense for? Maybe the Rangers?
