God I hate the wave. I do the anti-wave in protest. I put my head down and lower my arms between my legs when it comes by. I think it distracts the pitcher, and it is usually done when we are in the field.
I don't think I would have a problem with the announcer saying "strike 2, the count is 3-2" or something like that. It might actually keep people in the game a little bit more, and maybe stop them from doing ridiculous things like the aforementioned Wave. I also could care less if Meterparel were chosen to be the announcer. It really wouldn't interfere with my enjoyment of the game. The announcer is sort of background noise most of the time anyway. I can't imagine having that droning voice on every pitch. Also, I've never seen it done. I'm Orthodox Baseball, not Conservative or Reform Baseball. I don't even do the freaking wave. He invited Jon Meterparelel, the goofy side kick, to audition for the Sox' announcer gig. In the discussion, he said the Sox were considering a significant change to announcing. Have the Fenway announcer declare each time a ball and strike is called. Good thing or bad? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Red Sox Citizens" group.
