I think his experience with the Yankees might serve as a counterweight to that with the Royals. He actually managed their (Royals)
last winning season, when he won Manager of the Year (2003?). He did resign after 30-some odd games a couple years later when the team was playing crappy. Don't know if he was really fired or not.
