If Farrell can get this team playing and carrying themselves professionally again, that will be a positive step.

He clearly can't handle criticism. And all the newspaper people tell me that the Red Sox HAVE to be sure free agents can play in Boston (as if that's a novel idea.) As for Youk, I admit I didn't look at his stats. But Ross' OPS was only .725 when the Sox signed him. That's why he was inexpensive. (and he barely cracked .800 last year.) Seems to me, Youk is the kind of player we'll need as a stop gap until the sox can develop/sign/acquire genuine talents. The two things I wonder about are: Youk's interest and Youk's standing among the current players. BTW, listened to the John Farrell press conference. Very impressed. He came off as professional, deliberate, articulate and intelligent. I'm on board. Can't have a sub-800 OPS at first base. Youk might really be close to toast. > >I think Swisher is more likely. > >Steve O > > >On Tue, Oct 23, 2012 at 12:25 PM, Tom Salemi <[email protected]> wrote: > >I don't think we should dismiss an entire nation of players over one bust. >> >> >>Serious question: Youk for 1B?
