Sheesh, it's starting again..... Once I see that equipment truck heading south
from Fenway, I start to get all hepped up about

the season......

I'm actually okay with what the Sox have done in the off-season. I like the
guys they have signed, I like the fact that it seems like
they are committed to getting their younger players in the mix certainly by
2014, versus going out and signing marginal FA's to
long-term deals (I don't consider Victorino's a long-term deal). I don't expect
them to win 95 games this year, but I do think they
will be competitive in the AL East. The Yankees are even older than the Sox,
with very few young players in the wings; Toronto
won the winter season but that has to translate to the field; Baltimore didn't
do anything and I think they over-achieved last year;
and Tampa, who always seems to pull a rabbit out of the hat, who knows how long
they can keep doing that? And the Sox certainly
have the ability to pull off a mid-season deal.

Yeah, lots of question marks on this team for sure. But I think the return of
John Farrel will have a very positive impact on Lester,
Buchholz and Bard; I think Lackey could be a major X-factor if he returns well
from TJ surgery, and we seem to have some depth
for the rotation. The bullpen could be awesome. Not particularly worried
about the offense as I think Ellsbury will have a monster
season and Papi will return to form. Health is really going to be the key but I
think the Sox have decent depth at almost every position.

Let the fun begin!!
