IMO, weighing the rock is a useless exercise, short of for curiosity's sake.
What is important is how the tank looks, the 1-2 lb. guideline is just that,
a guideline. Build the reef according to what looks good. These days, it
seems less is more is the way to go. I agree that it takes a certain amount
of rock to handle a certain bio-load, but if the amount of rock you have
looks good, then there may be no need to add more.
