I put my 220 parellel with the joist after doubling the joist and it has not
dropped any.

It is true that the water bed has a larger footprint.  However if you look
at
almost all waterbeds the actual footprint is much smaller then the bed.  If
you ever put a waterbed together you will now the box that sits on the floor
is rather small when compared to the box that holds the water that sits on
top.  Anyhow my point is that if you run your tank perpendicular to the
floor
joists they will hold this guys 180 gallon tank quite easily.  You have to
remember those things are holding up the entire house.  They can hold alot
of
weight.
