Depends on the species of clams you want to keep. If it is T. Crocea, you
may be best off with the MH combo. If it it T. Deresa, the PCs would be more
than enough.

Use the bakpack and a sump. Personaly, I would use the bakpak, then put live
in the display tank, then put the Caluerpa (it is a Macro Algae, you don't
want Micro Algae if you can help it) in the sump with a light.

That, IMO, would be your best approach with a minimum $$.

I am setting up a 45 gallon tall(24"h). I would like to keep
clams,and soft
        corals. Two questions
          1. I have had the following lighting recommendations:
             a. 1-175w.mh and 2-55w cf total 285 watt/45gal=~6w/gal;.
             b. 4- 55w pc total 220w/45= ~4.9 w/gal

2.I have a Cyclone Bak-Pak from another tank that I had planned to
use. I
was total a sump tank 10gal with live sand and a green plant like
        MicroAlgae would be better.
        What is the best approach?
