Maybe this will explain why you got three males instead of three females:
"In the school, there is tight relationship between the number of females
and the number of males. Groups with less than 10 individuals never
include a male."
" Scientists have closely studied the sexual dimorphism of coral perches
and have come to the following conclusions: sexual transformation occurs
outside of the annual spawning season. If a male is removed from a harem,
the largest female changes to a male within two days. If several males are
removed from larger groups, the same number of females will transform
into males".
H. Baensch, "Marine Atlas volume 1", page 931, page 932.
If your three were culled from a large school housed in the same tank
at the supplier, this may explain why your females are in fact males.
Just an FYI.
