Your changes of the fish getting out the back like that are slim, but it
does happen. You can put eggcrate in the back of the canopy and cut it to
fit around any hoses or cords you have running into the tank. That will
allow air exchange while still keeping the fish from getting out... I have
an open back on my canopy, with no eggcrate. It has been that way for about
9 months and have not had any fish jump.... Yet.

All right if you take the glass off the top of the aquarium then how
do
you keep fish from jumping out of your aquarium? I have a canopy on
top
but there is no back to it so the fish would slide down the wall
onto
        the floor.
