No doubt about it, these things are heavy, real heavy.

I moved my 250gal tank...Im a pretty big guy and thought yeah, no
problem.....

Three of us got on it, I was on one end...It was without a doubt the
heaviest object I ever lifted. It must have ben pushing 500lbs, and to dead
lift from the ground was tough.....

Which reminds me....have some wood beams around to rest it on, you will
never get it up from the ground without being able to get your fingers under
the tank.

Paul.

I would be careful not to underestimate the weight of the tank. I remember
carrying my 120 from the driveway to the living room (no stairs) and
couldn't believe how heavy it was with 2 guys on it. I would also be careful
not to stress the glass. While it may be easier to leave the sand and such
in the tank, I would remove everything I could because of the weight and
stair issues.

Just my two cents.

The carpet/blanket thing is a real good idea I will have to implement that
into my move plans. It's the stairs that have me worried. I have a narrow
staircase so two guys cannot stand side by side on it.
Yeah I definitly intend to save as much of the old water as possible. There

is a 100 bucks worth of salt in that water alone. Plus of course all the
benefits in not switching up all the water parameters on the fish. I would
like to change as little as possible with the tank. It is a very nice and
successful setup right now so my thinking is, if it is not broken then dont

fix it.

Hi everyone
I know an AGA-150 is about 302 pounds.
I have moved my 150 several times in the past years and well i have had it
on
end and slide it on a piece of carpet the carpet lets it slip
pretty good and i have also dragged it on a moving blanket
which was pretty easy, 3 guys handle a 150 pretty well..
I would say the main thing is to not tip it on a top corner in anyway
this will cause it to rack and break a seal
i have not read the whole story here but if this tank is going to be reset
up
it is best to use as much old water as possible
even if it looks nasty from all the stiring ..
the tank will be back in shape in 2 days flat if not sooner.
oh one more thing dont clean any filters or change media at all
you will be suprised in how well the setup recovers from the move.

      The Big Move
Was when I moved my reef from NJ to Va where i live now,
and I didnt lose a fish or coral after an 11 hour disturbance from breaking
it down to setting it back up
The corals and fish i put in seperate Heavy Gauge plastic bags
packed in coolers but didnt tie the bags closed just kind of let them keep
each other from falling over and spilling and made sure there was enough
air
room in them before the lid was put on.
i made one stop on the way and checked the bags and let some fresh air in
as well.
I used large plastic garbage cans I bought just for the purpose of moving
the water , then returned them when i was done lol ..
"I told them i needed 35 gallon cans not 45 gallon lol"
it was a well planned move i must say.
