I have not followed this thread very closely, sorry! Anyway, I like Nature'
Ocean Aragonite Live Sand. I use it to jump start my systems at about 40
pounds per 100 gallons of system water. Fort the remainder of the sand beds
I use Caribe Sea Oolitic substrate. You can then place live rock on the
substrate 'blend' mentioned and further 'seed' it with more critters. In a
couple of months you will have a very healthy and diverse 'live' sand bed.
This method is effective at DSB from 2-6 inches. Also, you can further
diversify your sand bed fauna with a sand bed activator 'kit' from
Indo-Pacific Sea Farms. You might Email this company at www.ipsf.com as they
are a fantastic resource for 'custom' applications of more unusual reef
livestock. If you are ever in need of captive raised SPS frags you might
check out www.lonestarcorals.com....I recommend this company above all others
because I own and operate it.
