I just set up a new 10 gal with about 8 lbs of live rock. I put a 15w 20k
coralife fluorescent bulb on it. I think if I plan to have a small fish
(percula clown?), perhaps two at the most, I will need a skimmer? I'm
wondering what kind of corals and various inverts I can put in with that
amount of lighting without killing them obviously.
I realize that nitrates/nitrites are a big concern in that size tank so fish
are not a for sure but it would also be nice to have one just to see
something swimming around.
At my LFS I saw they had a 5 gal mini reef with a special metal halide light
that sold for around $80 but wondered if anyone has heard of it and if it
can be found on the 'net somewhere for a little less perhaps. It's an
impressive little mini reef and they've been running it quite successfully
for several months. But I think it's got considerable more light than I
have right now!
Any advice on critters is appreciated, fish or otherwise.
Thanks!
