Martin,
The forced air cooler thing works very well (I saw one a few days ago
holding the tank about 3C below ambient). The rest of the system is superb.
The questions I have regarding the cooler though is that over time wouldn't
it clog up with algal matter and secondly, you are producing a lot of
humidity that needs to be vented, otherwise in modern homes the evaporative
cooling effect will fall off not to mention making the room uncomfortable.
To vent the humidity probably means using either a dehumidifier (which adds
heat back into the room) or an air conditioning unit.
Wonder in the end ... is a chillier is more effective? Although I suppose
the cooler to deal with the heat added by the lights and an aircon to make
the room comfortable is about the same price and more enjoyable for
everyone.
Cheers
Andy

I am about to purchase a new reef aquarium and I have decide on a Deltec
model, with sump filtration, skimmer, calcium reactor, kalkwasser stirrer,
auto top up, cooler etc. I am interested to know whether anyone out there
owns a Deltec aquarium and what their thoughts are on the systems.
Martin
