Check for air leaks near the pump inlet.
Is the skimmer output near the pump inlet ?

Subject: Hello, and can you help
Hello people,
This is my first post, and I'd appreciate some advice.
I've just set up my first tank three days ago, it is a 40 gal with coral
sand, 10lbs live rock and 50lbs Indian Ocean Rock.
The problems are the water is still very cloudy and I'm not sure if this is
normal or should I use a product to floculate the particles and the second
question is the return line from the sump is pumping lots of micro bubbles
into the tank- I can stop this by attaching a piece of filter floss to the
outlet but is there another way.
Thanks
