I agree with all of you. Introducing beach sand to any aquarium is
dangerous. But 2 years ago I was in Acapulco in a hotel a little bit far
from the touristic zone, there wasnt a beach but some rocks and a very
calmed little harbor, so i rented an snorkel and started snorkeling for a
while. How would my impression be when i started to see, Passer angels,
peppermint tangs, zebra moorays, yellow and black dogs, damsels, wrasses,
nudichranchs, anemones, caulerpa, i dont remember its name but it is a
purple box puffer with yellow dots,..... ohhh just impressive. All i wanted
was a huge net and some bags and a box to take some home.
Well, Im going again to Acapulco this weekend so i was planning to bring
home some caulerpa, some inverts and some sand from that place too, and if
possible a passer angelfish.
Anyway, when you go to a lfs how do you buy live sand, I guess only moisted
right?
So here are my plans.
Will appreciatte any comment
Thanks
Marco

I've never done it before but this is just my opinion.I personally would
never put the sand from the beach in my tank since most of it is brought in
by trucks to fill the beach's in the first place. If you are scuba diving
that is a different story. My lfs said that certain burrowing crabs at the
beach are good but he forgets which one it is.I'm waiting for my Dr. Burgess
Atlas in the mail to study up more on stuff like this. You might get
something in that sand that you might not really want??????I don't think the
sand on the beach would have as much life as good fresh reefsand from a good
supplier???Just keeping it moist isn't going to keep most organism's
living. It would atleast need an air pump,Steady temp, possible filter if you
are not bringing it right home or if it is a long ride.If you are flying
good luck on trying to take it thru security even if it is only sand.Just my
amateur thoughts.Ken.United We stand In America.
