The one I have (for now) is medium green with a smooth top & spiny on the bottom. It moves very fast & is an aggressive feeder. I believe it is the type that can catch fish but I have never seen it climb the rock, it stays on the sand usually in a cave.

The problem with this confusion is due to the plague of multiple common
names. The brittle/serpent star name is applied to a few seperate species.
And with a few of the species both can be used. As the spiny or smooth legs
is just a genetic trait.
