My moonstone does the same thing and has for as long as I have had him (several years) He will sometimes open his polyps duting the day when you feed him.
**************************** Craig O. Fogus [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.fogus.net All, I finally bought my moon coral for about 33 dollars and it is about the size of a baseball ball. Its purple or redish with a green center and it looks very healthy and nice. For what i have read it is one of the most hardy corals around. I placed him over a rock and with a moderate courrent, under the strongest light in my tank. What i didnt know is that he is a nocturnal fella. All day long the polips are closed and at night they open and release all their tentacles. Is this normal?? i read in reefcentral.com that at night they release their feeding tentacles but i thought that at day they would open jsut a little bit. Any experience by someone? Also, the lfs owner gave me two gonioporas because he couldnt take care of them, i gotta say that they were in really bad shape, so thats why I accepted, I placed in my tank near the top so they can receive more light and a moderate courrent. The polips are starting to open and come out so i think they like it, but i you could gimme some advice on gonioporas care i would really appreciatte, like courrent, light, etc, feeding. I think I will start feeding marine snow, should i turn off the skimmer when doing this?? i think so, and also the mechanical filter right? Thanks for any info.
