Yes Shane, the bulbs dont go to the end. my tank is very large, so the bulbs are like this: 2 bulbs start from the left and the other 2 start from the right, so in the middle of the canopy there are actually 4 bulbs. about 1/3 of the tank receive the 4 bulbs light. the open brain, which is indeed an open brain but a different kind (i read a book with pics and could id it) is doing great as far as i know, the color is nice and hes not bleaching or peeling. the moon is great and everynight opens more. i have polips which are impressive and also the mushrooms i have are growing every day. myt algae in the refugium is growing fine even do it needs more light. i think things look pretty nice so far. -----Original Message----- From: Shane Clays [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Viernes, 26 de Octubre de 2001 05:06 p.m. To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: RE: Marine snow
The bulbs dont go end to end do they? I mean, the bulbs arent 72" long right? You are looking at about 80 gallons of tank, and 160 watts of light. I would say go 2 NO actinic, and 2 VHO full spectrum, and you should be able to keep LPS in there nicely. Right now, from the sounds of it, you are still to low on light for the LPS like hammers and such. Unless your lights are all concentrated at one end (or the middle of the tank, or the lights are 72" long). You bought an open brain coral right? How is it doing?
