Hello All,

We're going to be making some changes to the list, and
Albert asked that I post an informational message here to
explain what's going to happen and why.

Tomorrow evening sometime, the reefkeeping list will be
switched over to run on new mail list software. The change
will be MOSTLY transparent, but there are some differences
that you need to be aware of:

1) The email address to post to the list will change to
   [EMAIL PROTECTED] For a little
while, we'll forward the old [EMAIL PROTECTED] to
the new list, but ultimately, you'll need to start using
   the new address.

2) The unsubscribe address is different -- to unsubscribe
from the new lists you'll have to send a message to either
   [EMAIL PROTECTED] or to
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
As always, unsubscribe instructions will be included on
   every message.

3) The digest format is slightly different, but not so much
that you'll have trouble with it. As always, there will
be a table of contents at the top (now arranged by thread),
with the actual messages following. One nice feature is
that the new list manager is able to strip out HTML if
someone accidently posts an HTML message to the list, so
the digests will be MUCH cleaner! :) Digests will still
be issued twice a day, but they'll shift from 8:00am and
   8:00pm to noon and midnight.

4) A big benefit from our side of the list is that the new
software will automatically handle bounce messages and
remove bad addresses. The software is smart enough not
to remove you for a single bounce -- the entire process
from the first bounce to removal takes a couple of weeks,
so you don't have to worry that you're going to get dropped
just because your mailbox went over quota for a day or two.

We'll automatically migrate the entire list tomorrow evening,
so you will not be required to re-subscribe or anything like
that. Just be sure to use the new list address for posting,
and please be patient if there are any kinks that need to be
worked out.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled program...

Regards,
Eric Longman

LEAVING THE LIST
================
To stop receiving messages you will need to send a message to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] with a command to remove you from the list. The list
manager controls who belongs to the list.

For example:
 --------------------------------------------------------------
       From: John Doe <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
         To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
    Subject: <not needed>

    UNSUBSCRIBE
