Greetings all. I switched over the gmail app to host my IMAP mail to @codehooligans.com last summer. I use the Mail app on my mac to connect to gmail and generally a top-level Clients folder then each client below that. Then is this is a multi-project client I will create a third tier folder below the client.
When I close out a client project I export the mail folder from Apple mail along with documents and files on my system and create a nice archive that is burned to a CD or DVD depending on size and filed away. The mail folder is removed from BTW. But here is my problem. On three occasions now I've needed to find an old email form a client project. In order to access the mail message I have to import the mbox back into Apple mail which depending on the size (over 100M) can be time consuming. Would be nice if there were an export option that left the message readable or at least scanable. I 100M file is not easily loaded into TextMate is my point. So what I'm looking for and why I'm writing this email is to ask if anyone has a better process for handling closed client projects. And how do you archive the information like emails.
