Hmmm, I missed that you were gonna use this display primarily for
graphics work so I have to add a caveat to my suggestion.

While it's perfectly fine for viewing code and even for full-screen
movies, there is a very discernible difference between my MBP and
external Samsung 2253BW displays. The external display is darker and
no amount of adjusting the controls seem to be able to match the
crispness and colors of the MBP display.  At work, I've noticed that
HP manufactured displays seem to match my MPB display closely.
