I have "inherited" a web app hosted on a dedicated server that is openBSD
running Apache. I want to be able to do CF development on that box (without
spending money on a CF server license, of course) and so am contemplating
putting Railo on it. Bear in mind now that I am completely ignorant of most
of what's involved in doing that, but my googling so far seems to be saying
that I should first install Tomcat, and then I can install Railo. I can't
quite comprehend what Tomcat really does (can't find anything in my existing
experience to relate it to), but knowing that it is required, does anybody
know how I can determine if it's already installed and running on our
server?

If anybody has any "nutshell" type step by step pseudo (and/or actual)
instructions on how to accomplish getting Railo installed on openBSD, or
just tips, tricks, gotchas, or general advice on the subject, I sure would
appreciate it! I've always typically tended to shy away from the open source
CFML engines, but given my current situation, I'm thinking it's time to
broaden my CF horizons in this arena.
