I use S3 and JungleDisk, to make it easy to run auto backups of everything
from my MacBookPro.. My few cases of needing to restore went VERY smoothly.

It costs about $6/month.

I don't know if I could back up directly from my host accounts to S3, but
I'd like to, if possible I don't know if I could back up directly from my
