Subject: Re: [Refresh Austin: 4799] Joomla 1.0.15

Well you came to the right place.

I do most of our websites with Joomla and it sounds like you have to
assign your modules to your menu items.

The tricky thing with Joomla is that you dont assign modules to
articles. You assign modules to menu items that the articles are
associated with.

Please let me know if this is confusing. It can be sometimes.

Just go through each module that is published and make sure it is only
with the Home menu item.

1.0 sometimes can be a bit tricky with this so an alternative method
would be to copy the template and assign the modules to second template
and all assocated menu items.

If this still doesnt work then you can change module position names in
the second template so they are unique from the first template as a last
resort.

Of course without seeing the administration my advise is limited. :(

The great thing about Joomla is that there is tons of documentation for
problems just like this.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Hey out there,

I am very new to web site creation. I'm learning as I go. I've been
asked to put together a site for my company using Joomla version 1.0.15.
Updating to the latest version is not currently an option, partly
because I inherited the site mid construction and they don't want to
start all over. The site is on a dev box, so I can't really show you
what I'm talking about either. I know all of this just makes it harder
to find help. I've looked at new content and old content side by side in
the manager to see what if any difference I can see, but I'm missing it.
I've searched the forums and the user manuals and I'm just at my wit's
end.

Here's my question/problem: Whenever I create new static content items
for the site and publish them, they display with all of the modules as
if they are (on) the home page. I would like them to display with a
limited number of modules like the other internal pages of the site. The
modules in question are set to display only on the home page, but in
their description in the module manager it says "varies", not home.

I'm guessing the problem is one of two things - but I am totally a noob
and just guessing.

One - Joomla is designating the new static content items that I create
as home page content, which is causing the modules to display on those
pages.

Or Two - Despite the fact that I have set and reset the module display
page to home, I have missed something that confines the module to that
very first welcome page.

Any help at all would be appreciated.
