Goodwill to Provide Technology Classes for People with Disabilities

Goodwill Receives Grant for Technology Opportunities, Funded by the City of
Austin

Who: Goodwill Industries of Central Texas

What: Goodwill Industries of Central Texas was awarded the Grant for
Technology Opportunities for the second year by the City of Austin. Goodwill
will continue to put the money toward expanding its assistive technology
resources to include computer courses for people with disabilities.

Taught by an experienced instructor, Goodwill will offer four basic and
advanced courses that will provide people with disabilities the opportunity
to learn computer skills, including Word, Excel, typing, email and Internet
skills. This grant will provide 120 Central Texans with disabilities access
to computer classes that utilize assistive technology, such as voice
recognition software, magnification software, specialized keyboards and
more. Allowing Goodwill to take further strides toward its mission of
providing job-related services to people with disadvantages, these classes
will incorporate job search and life skills, such as creating a resume,
email account and budget.

When: Classes will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9-11 AM
classes; 11:30-12:30 lab time; interested participants are encouraged to
