Hi everyone, A lot of people have asked how they can help with Refresh, so I thought I'd compile a list of ideas for those interested in contributing to our group. All are welcome to pitch in to whatever extent you can.
With that, I'll dive right in. Topics We're always looking for interesting topics and speakers across the wide variety of subjects we cover. So, please drop me a line if: you're interested in speaking on a specific topic you'd like to hear a specific topic covered you know an excellent speaker that you think would fit Refresh well If you have a minute, it'd be awesome if you filled out this short survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Y6XHDFG) Identity I cobbled together the current site and what passes for a logo in a weekend a few years back, and frankly, it's time for a facelift. If you're a talented designer who's willing to design a logo for the group please let me know. While we don't have funds to pay for something (oh no, the worst type of client!), I promise that we'll promote you heavily throughout this list at our meetings and any other opportunity afforded to us. Link to your site will of course be provided on the Refresh site. Gatherings and Meetings There's no reason for Refresh to be limited to meetings once a month. If you'd like to set up an informal gathering at a local coffee shop, pub or restaurant, go for it! All you need to do is send a message to the list with: Where to meet When If you have a topic, what you want to talk about. Or, you can keep it open There have been a lot of these events over the years and they tend to prove popular. I recommend that you provide a general topic, as that will encourage people to come out. Web Site The majority of our effort is on the mailing list, so the site is a bit neglected. If you're interested in contributing on it, please let me know. We'd be very happy to syndicate related topics from your blog, or set you up as an author to write on Web topics. Posting Jobs & Opportunities We have a mailing list just for job opportunities, whether they are full time, part time, permanent or contract. If you're looking for someone, try posting it there. Once a day, all jobs posted will be bundled together and sent to the main list. Sign up at http://groups.google.com/group/refresh-austin-jobs/ Spreading the Word We don't judge success by the number of people subscribed to the list or attending meetings. We do judge ourselves on how many people choose to participate and how many feel that the group benefits them. If you know anyone who would benefit, please let them know about Refresh with: a blog post about the group a quick tweet, especially before a meeting brining colleagues to a meeting or informal gatherig What Else?
