The Austin Forum on Science, Technology & Society presents a talk by Sue Fratkin, "Competitiveness, Congress and You!" The COMPETES Act, promoting excellence in technology, education and science, has been reauthorized and signed; the president has delivered the State of the Union address and numerous articles and editorials have been written exhorting the nation to a "wake-up" call to confront international competitiveness and the challenges of innovation to "win the future." Fratkin Associates, founded in 1991 by Fratkin, is a consulting firm that focuses on these issues from the higher-education perspective.
