Hello all, I am a member of the UT chapter of ASIS&T (American Society of Information Science & Technology), a graduate student organization comprised primarily of students from the School of Information. The students who participate in ASIS&T are typically those who take coursework and pursue careers in Usability, Information Architecture, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, and other related fields.
This semester, one of our goals is to make more contacts in the professional community in Austin. Specifically, we would like to do the following: - Host speakers from local companies who are interested in discussing the role of Information Science in their business and practice - Establish a mentorship program that would pair professionals with graduate students pursing similar careers - Locate potential volunteer or internship opportunities for our current students and recent graduates - Secure financial sponsorship in order to continue offering seminars and events for ASIST students If you or your company could help us accomplish any of these goals, we'd love to talk to you and establish some relationships in the Austin tech community. Please contact me off list at [email protected] - I look forward to hearing from you! -Sara Hawkins Event Coordinator, UT ASIS&T MSIS Candidate, 2012 -- Our Web site: http://www.RefreshAustin.org/ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Refresh Austin" group.
